Liverpool will be hoping to give Steve Clarke an afternoon to forget on Saturday when his West Bromwich Albion side make the 93 mile trip to Anfield in the Premier League, 3pm kick off UK time.

Gerrard v W.B.A.The Reds have a dismal recent record against the Baggies, having lost four of the last five league encounters, failing to score in three of those defeats. Two of those victories for West Brom came last season – 0-3 at the Hawthorns, 0-2 at Anfield – as Steve Clarke led the Baggies to their first league ‘double’ over us since the 1966/67 campaign.

Our 2-2 draw with Newcastle last weekend means we have picked up 11 points from a possible 18 in our last six league games and we sit sixth in the form guide, although our position of third in the Premier League is the far more relevant standing.

West Brom’s 0-0 draw at Stoke was their fourth of this campaign – making them the current draw specialists in the league – and they currently occupy 12th place having picked up ten points, seven points behind the Reds. The Baggies are tenth in the form guide, having picked up nine points from a possible 18, although they are one of just three teams yet to taste defeat on their travels (the other two being Arsenal and Liverpool).

Our record home victory over West Bromwich Albion is 5-0, a scoreline we’ve achieved on two occasions, while our heaviest defeat to the Baggies at Anfield is 2-5, suffered on October 27 1951.
