Transfers, Tiaras and Tantrums

Transfers, Tiaras and Tantrums
January 17, 2011 Paul Tomkins

A fortnight left in the transfer window, and some edgy Reds have been showing concern at a lack of activity. But this is an awkward time to do deals, and my perception is that moves occur closer to deadline day, as the haggling draws to a close with a compromise.

There’s no need to panic yet, although an injection of fresh blood (and, hopefully, some pace and verve) into the set-up might help boost morale. Kenny Dalglish has got the Reds playing better football, but results might be helped with the right impact signing.

As ever, it seems like Liverpool are being linked with about 200 players; even for those who think the squad needs a serious overhaul, that’s going a bit far.

So, who do Liverpool need? Who can the Reds realistically get? How good are those being linked? And who, if anyone, is likely to be got rid of before the start of February?
