Roy’s 10-Game Rating
Judge me after ten games, Roy Hodgson said earlier in the season. Well, it’s a damn sight better than it was after eight games, so he had a point. That said, it’s still only three wins in those ten games.

Of course, we shouldn’t be surprised by Tom Hicks blaming Rafa Benítez for the Reds losing money; after all, he’s after scapegoats, following his scandalously disruptive time as Liverpool’s owner. But people like Mark Lawrenson, Alan Hansen, Robbie Savage and Harry Redknapp should know better.
By Daniel Geey. Liverpool football club appear not to do things by halves anymore. No longer are boardroom wranglings kept in-house. Needless to say everything came out in the wash in the recent High Court cases. This article aims to peel back the legal arguments in order to understand the underlying basis and significance of one of the most significant weeks in the club’s history.
Following our 2 – 1 victory over Blackburn Rovers last Sunday, the pressure on the much-maligned Roy Hodgson has eased slightly.
There was pressing. There was a higher defensive line. There was no Poulsen to slow the game down. Meireles was not marooned on the wing. The game was taken to the opposition. There was passing and movement, playing to the strengths of the players. It was what so many of us have been calling for.

It’s not been a lot of fun watching the reserve team lately. The young reds were taught a harsh lesson away at Chelsea when they were well beaten inside the first 45 minutes. Following that, a drab 1-0 defeat against Sunderland was overshadowed minutes later by the news that the board had lifted the lid on the actions of the then owners of the club. However, watching the reserves has been instructive for Liverpool fans.
Whether Roy Hodgson goes very soon, or slightly further down the line, he has to go. He was the wrong man to start with, and I don’t feel that will change. As soon as the new board is in place, he has to be cut loose. Unless he manages to turn things around to such an incredible degree – pretty much win every game from now until Christmas, to keep himself in the job on a week by week basis – I don’t see him anything but a dead man walking.
By Andrew Beasley. Following my recent piece comparing Roy Hodgson’s stats this season with Rafa Benitez’s last season, an idea was posted that I hadn’t considered. As Roy was inheriting Rafa’s squad, how did Rafa get on in comparison when he inherited Houllier’s squad?
